China National Petroleum Corporation : NO. 3 Storage Tank of Dalian LNG Terminal Becomes Operational
On October 20, the NO. 3 storage tank of Dalian LNG terminal was successfully put into operation at the first try, marking the overall completion and operation of the first phase of Dalian LNG project.
Construction of Dalian LNG terminal was started in 2008 and completed in 2011. With a total investment of RMB 4.7 billion, it is China's first large scale LNG terminal that is domestically designed, procured, constructed and managed in compliance with international standards. The first phase project has an annual receiving capacity of 3 million tons, gasification capacity of 5.25 million tons, and gas deliverability of 7.6 billion cubic meters. Completed in May, 2012, No. 3 storage tank has an effective volume of 160,000 cubic meters, the same with the other two. Dalian LNG terminal now has an overall storage capacity of 480,000 cubic meters and will play a key role in guaranteeing gas supply and peak shaving in Northeast and North China.
Dalian LNG dock is the only one in the world that integrates ship loading and unloading functions, and is capable of handling all types of LNG carrier ranging from 10,000 to 350,000 cubic meters. Since its first successful unloading on November 23, 2011, Dalian LNG terminal has already received and unloaded LNG totaling 1.14 million tons from 12 carriers.
Dalian LNG terminal began to supply natural gas to Dalian-Shenyang pipeline network since December 27, 2011. By far it has delivered a total of 1.43 billion cubic meters of natural gas through pipeline to the network, and 7,032 tons of LNG by tank cars to Dalian city. Currently, the second phase of the project has been launched and is expected to become operational by the end of 2013.
